A. Jann Peitso
Jann translates her native southland and her forays into “The North, Up East, Mid-West and way, Way Out West” into brightly-colored watercolors... “no wimpy watercolors” for her! Oftentimes, her writings are injected into her paintings that can tickle the straightest funny bone, bring a tear to the most hardened eye or inspire the most immovable person to “get on with life and love what you can do”!
Blending nature and celebrating our heritage through contemporary quilt paintings, giggling with your everyday flamingo (the now famous “Gussie Mae”), dancing with angels, (primarily "Bootsie"), portraying the various regions, states, college towns and those “schools of higher learning” we all remember with differing degrees of affection, Jann’s artworld is an entertaining, creative world, one you can experience. You won’t leave it without some emotion being touched.
There is a serious side to Jann’s artwork, the side that you hang in your foyer, over the sofa, over the buffet and in the bedrooms: her watery quilt patterns, her roosters, fruits, and landscapes. The whimsical pieces you give to friends who need a “lift”, who need to “get over it” or who collect fun things.. such as “Gussie Mae” the flamingo, “Bootsie" the angel and to those who even want to re-visit college towns and states.
Many Peitso watercolors have been licensed by companies and published as cross-stitch patterns, posters, notecards, calendars, designs on tee shirts and tote bags.
Jann Peitso publishes her own artwork so that reproductions can be purchased by a greater number of collectors. Original artwork is always for sale at the juried arts and crafts shows she attends throughout the year.
“I always receive the greatest ideas and suggestions from meeting people at the shows… and I can live on the 'atta-girls' at least a week or maybe, two!”
